WEM Nominating Committee begins its 2026 process: Member list posted

The 2026 Western Energy Markets (WEM) Governing Body Nominating Committee has initiated its process to develop a candidate slate to fill one Governing Body seat with a term scheduled to expire in 2026.

According to the Selection Policy for the WEM Governing Body, the Nominating Committee must convene no less than 100 days prior to the scheduled expiration of any WEM Governing Body member’s term, to begin the process of identifying a potential candidate for the seat.

The Nominating Committee shall nominate a slate with one nominee for each seat on the Governing Body for which the term is scheduled to expire. The Nominating Committee must take the following steps to identify candidates to bring to the WEM Governing Body for approval in a general session meeting:

  • Determine if eligible WEM Governing Body members whose terms are scheduled to expire have expressed a desire to be nominated for a new term and, if so, decide whether to re-nominate the departing members without interviewing other candidates.
  • If the Nominating Committee does not decide to proceed in this manner, then it should ask the executive search firm to identify at least two qualified candidates to interview in addition to the interested sitting Member.
  • For positions that are otherwise vacant, the Nominating Committee will utilize an executive search firm to identify at least two qualified candidates to interview. (See Nominating Committee Guidelines).

The term for WEM Governing Body member Anita Decker is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2026. Member Decker has expressed interest in being re-nominated to the WEM Governing Body.

The list of Nominating Committee members is available on the WEM Governance overview webpage and reflects new sector representatives.
